Managing Your Solid Waste
Trash comes in various forms-municipal household waste, bulky items like furniture or a collection of smaller items, yard debris, grass clippings, electronics, hazardous waste and various other recyclable materials. The Borough of Manville and Somerset County, in compliance with the Statewide Solid Waste Management Plan adopted by the NJDEP, provide various means for residents to properly dispose of their solid waste. Composting or recycling these items reduces the landfill volume. Residents are required to separate their trash accordingly to comply with State Regulations.
The Department of Public Works collects various items curbside on their scheduled dates. Items for collection can be placed curbside no earlier than 5 p.m. the evening before the scheduled date and no later than 7 a.m. on the day of pickup (6 a.m. on the day of pickup during summer hours - Memorial Day through Labor Day).
Non-compliance of the Solid Waste Guidelines and Ordinances, will result in the item(s) not being picked up. Residents will have to correct the non-compliance or a violation and a summons will be issued.
